Study Abroad: Animation, Design, & Activism in Berlin, Germany

May 13 - June 7

June Sanders and Jacob Riddle, two experienced Digital Technology and Culture faculty members, will lead a study abroad program in Berlin in the summer of 2024 — May 13–June 7 — offering DTC students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of Berlin while earning academic credits.

Experience the creativity and social activism of Berlin with our unique study abroad program focusing on Animation, Design & Activism. Based in the heart of one of Europe’s most dynamic cities, this program offers students a unique opportunity to explore the intersections of design, animation, and activism in a city that is known for pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Through a combination of coursework, workshops, and hands-on projects, students will gain a deeper understanding of the design process and the role that design and animation can play in promoting social change. In addition to traditional design and animation classes, students will also have the opportunity to explore the city’s rich history of counterculture and activism, visiting museums, galleries, and cultural landmarks that showcase the works of local and international artists.

Beyond the classroom, students will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Berlin’s thriving art and design scene, visiting local design studios and exhibitions, and participating in hands-on projects and collaborations with local designers, artists, and activists. Whether you’re interested in design, animation, or activism, this study abroad program offers a unique and exciting opportunity to explore the creative and cultural landscape of one of Europe’s most dynamic cities.

Join us in Berlin and become part of a community of artists, designers, and activists who are making a positive impact on the world.

Some program highlights include visits to the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Topography of Terror, and the Neue Nationalgalerie.
