Ruth is an award-winning filmmaker, published writer, and web designer with over two decades years of experience in the creative industries. Her creative and scholarly work examines the intersection of media, technology, culture, and power. Her films have won awards at top-tier and Oscar-qualifying film festivals including the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival and the Seattle International Film Festival. She’s taught multimedia and cultural studies topics for over two decades to diverse audiences; everything from introducing kindergartners to DSLR cameras to leading an introductory women’s studies course in a men’s prison.
Ruth earned her M.F.A. in Film and a Graduate Certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies from Ohio University and her M.A. in Cultural Studies from the University of Washington Bothell.
In addition to her position in DTC, Ruth is also an Affiliate Faculty in the Women, Gender, and Sexuuality Studies Program.
